Teaching and Learning

Sample assignments that demonstrate teaching and learning: There is a blog I created on "reading" for EDLL. I have a placed based learning video that I have submitted for my EDSO course. For EDTL 3200 I created an inclusion statement. For EDTL I created an assessment portfolio with another teacher candidate.

For this assignment, my requirements were to create a demonstration of learning from the course. I chose to focus on the importance of reading. My blog supports caregivers and teachers in this area. I provide valuable tips and trick along with resources and links to expand individual knowledge on this topic.

EDSO 3200

In EDSO 3200, our class created placed based learning videos. You will find my video in the link below. My project's focus is on the North Thompson River. In this video I will discuss Indigenous and Curriculum connections along with field trip planning strategies. My aim for this assignment is to promote place based learning, while meeting educator expectations. I want individuals that are afraid to take a step into place based learning to get a feel for this concept and hopefully give it a try for themselves.

In EDTL 3200 Inclusion Statement.

This inclusion statement I acknowledge my commitment to inclusion. I value and commit to the inclusion of all of students. Inclusion is part of the framework that I plan and develop my classroom around. With an open door I leave no student out. All students have the right to an education and I am here to support that. I will model this to all students in my classroom I hope that my students can learn to be inclusive themselves.

Teaching and Learning Assignment on Assessment.

For this assignment we were instructed to choose 15 different assessment tools to share. There are many ways to assess your students in class and many of them are fun an easy. The example shown above " 3-2-1" is a great check in to assess student learning. Here you ask the student three things they remember, two examples of what you learned and one question you have or are confused about. This gets the students to think more deeply about new content that they have learned. With your students it is important to get them thinking, get them learning and keep a record for assessment.

Language and Literacy Assignment on Writing Strategies

For this assignment students were required to demonstrate 35 different writing strategies. Some of these strategies were demonstrated in class through various workshops and classroom instruction. These are excellent tools that Teacher Candidates can use later on in their careers. The above "playdough prompt" activity is a great way to incorporate hands on learning and art to a brainstorming/ storytelling activity. During my completion of this writing portfolio, it really allowed me an opportunity to reflect on how there are many ways to prompt and implement writing with you students. Once you get to know your class, as an educator, you can pick and choose strategies that are best suited for your students.
